The Kitee Finnish Rally Championship is fast approaching. The competition rules have been published on the Kiti service and in the Sportity app, where the password is SMKITEE2026. Registration is also in full swing, and among the first names on the entry list are, for example, the organizing club’s duo Eetu Kortelainen and Krister Suhonen in Class 6.
The event features both a full-length Finnish Championship rally and a shorter, more affordable version for amateurs. The Finnish Championship rally includes eight fast special stages with a combined length of approximately 96 kilometers. There will be two service breaks—one after the third special stage and another after the sixth.
In the shortened version, there are six special stages totaling 66 kilometers. In these classes, both drivers may compete with a reconnaissance license, provided that one of them has passed the AKK junior rally exam.
In Kitee, the weekend is packed with sporting excitement, as the rally events kick off as early as Friday, August 14, with the competitors’ recce run, and in the evening, the top drivers will be on display at the rally preview event at Kitee’s Rantakenttä.
On Saturday morning, the race will officially kick off from downtown Kitee starting at 9 a.m. The Kitee Race & Event Center will host the race’s service park as well as the spectator special stage, which will take place around noon.
– Our main partner, Fixus, is providing the public with free admission to Kitee Race & Event’s events. I’d like to emphasize at this point that the public can only access the service park and the spectator special stage from the south—that is, from the intersection near downtown Kitee. “The northern access route has been reserved for the competitors,” emphasizes Race Director Arto Pirinen.
The first competitors are expected to arrive for the victory celebrations around 6:00 p.m. Champagne will once again be sprayed in a festive celebration at Kitee’s Rantakenttä, and admission is free for the public.
